Wait for You by Jennifer Armentrout

Currently on the top of the Kindle charts.  This book is about a girl that is trying to overcome a personal tragedy.

A NEW YORK TIMES and USA TODAY Bestselling book.

Some things are worth waiting for…
Traveling thousands of miles from home to enter college is the only way nineteen-year-old Avery Morgansten can escape what happened at the Halloween party five years ago–an event that forever changed her life. All she needs to do is make it to her classes on time, make sure the bracelet on her left wrist stays in place, not draw any attention to herself, and maybe–please God–make a few friends, because surely that would be a nice change of pace. The one thing she didn’t need and never planned on was capturing the attention of the one guy who could shatter the precarious future she’s building for herself.
Some things are worth experiencing…
Cameron Hamilton is six feet and three inches of swoon-worthy hotness, complete with a pair of striking blue eyes and a remarkable ability to make her want things she believed were irrevocably stolen from her. She knows she needs to stay away from him, but Cam is freaking everywhere, with his charm, his witty banter, and that damn dimple that’s just so… so lickable. Getting involved with him is dangerous, but when ignoring the simmering tension that sparks whenever they are around each other becomes impossible, he brings out a side of her she never knew existed.
Some things should never be kept quiet…
But when Avery starts receiving threatening emails and phone calls forcing her to face a past she wants silenced, she’s has no other choice but to acknowledge that someone is refusing to allow her to let go of that night when everything changed. When the devastating truth comes out, will she resurface this time with one less scar? And can Cam be there to help her or will he be dragged down with her?
And some things are worth fighting for…

The Dark Duet Series by CJ Roberts

These books were a bit out of the normal reading zone for me.  They deal with a young girl being abducted with the purpose of being sold into sexual slavery.  The books were well written but obviously they contain very sensitive material.  I’m not going to lie to you – they’re detailed and the thought of some of the acts that were discussed were not my typical reading material.  However, some of the weird situations that the characters faced aside, the books were well written and I’m waiting for the 3rd book to come out – it’s an epilogue of sorts and I’m curious how everything plays out.  If you are sensitive to orgy like scenes, dungeons with sex toys, forced sex, and the thought of sexual slavery – please don’t buy the books as they would definitely not be your type of book. But if you are able to keep an open mind and not totally freak out about some of the scenes and remind yourself that thankfully these are only works of fiction (fully knowing that these types of things do actually happen to real people in real life) then I cautiously recommend that you give them a try.

BOOK ONE OF THE DARK DUET:

Caleb is a man with a singular interest in revenge. Kidnapped as a young boy and sold into slavery by a power-hungry mobster, he has thought of nothing but vengeance. For twelve years he has immersed himself in the world of pleasure slaves searching for the one man he holds ultimately responsible. Finally, the architect of his suffering has emerged with a new identity, but not a new nature. If Caleb is to get close enough to strike, he must become the very thing he abhors and kidnap a beautiful girl to train her to be all that he once was.

Eighteen-year-old Olivia Ruiz has just woken up in a strange place. Blindfolded and bound, there is only a calm male voice to welcome her. His name is Caleb, though he demands to be called Master. Olivia is young, beautiful, naïve and willful to a fault. She has a dark sensuality that cannot be hidden or denied, though she tries to accomplish both. Although she is frightened by the strong, sadistic, and arrogant man who holds her prisoner, what keeps Olivia awake in the dark is her unwelcome attraction to him.

Thoughtless Series by S.C. Stephens

Ah…where to start.  I started this series a few months ago and just finished the final book on March 5.  I woke up at 5:30 a.m. and was happy that my pre-ordered book was delivered, ready and waiting for me.

First off, I cannot listen to the song Ho Hey by the Lumineers without thinking of the book Thoughtless.  There is something about it that makes me think of Kellen singing that to Kiera.  I don’t want to give a lot away about the books because I don’t want to ruin one minute of these for you.  I will say there is cheating in the book so if you can’t stand that in a book, walk away.

Otherwise, just know that this series is freaking awesome.  I loved each book  equally.  Of course, there are many times I want to slap Kiera in the face and tell her to wake the fuck up.  Seriously.  It’s so obvious to the reader who she wants to be with so just be with him already.  It’s like when the creepy music starts to play and you start yelling at the dumb girl with big boobs to not.go.in.to. the. basement.  It’s pretty obvious to you she’s gonna die – but she didn’t ask you did she?  She’ll just have to figure it out on her own.  Thankfully, Kiera figures it out eventually.  Kellen, man, how the author describes him – holy freakin hell – yum.

The books kind of leave you hanging but thankfully if you haven’t read them yet – there’s not a lot of suspense and wait time because lucky you you can read the whole series without a 2 month wait for the final book.

Go. Get. This. Series. Right. NOW.  Really you won’t regret it.

For almost two years now, Kiera’s boyfriend, Denny, has been everything she’s ever wanted: loving, tender, and endlessly devoted to her. When they head off to a new city to start their lives together—Denny at his dream job and Kiera at a top-notch university—everything seems perfect. Then an unforeseen obligation forces the happy couple apart. Feeling lonely, confused, and in need of comfort, Kiera turns to an unexpected source—a local rock star named Kellan Kyle. At first, he’s purely a friend she can lean on, but as her loneliness grows, so does their relationship. And then one night everything changes . . . and none of them will ever be the same.

From Amazon.com

After being caught in the middle of a love triangle which led to a devastating betrayal, Kiera pledged to learn from the mistakes she’d made. She was determined to never again inflict that kind of pain on anyone, especially the soulful, talented man who held her heart. But life offers new challenges for every relationship, and when Kiera’s love is put to the ultimate test, will it survive? Love is easy . . . trust is hard.

Can love survive when life gets Reckless?

When the band hits it big, Kiera and Kellan must ask themselves: Can their love for each other withstand the constant pressures of superstardom? The friendships they’ve formed, the new family they’ve found, and the history they’ve forged will all play a part in helping them navigate the turbulent waters of the band’s exploding popularity. A greedy executive hell-bent on success, a declining pop star looking for an edge, and a media circus that twists lies into truths are just some of the obstacles the lovers will have to overcome if they are going to remain together. Fame comes with a price—but will it cost Kiera and Kellan everything?

Black Falcon Series by Michelle Valentine

I really, really, really liked these books.  I bailed out of eating lunch with my work friends so that I could read the end of one of them.  Only really good books get this honor, because sometimes my work friends make my lunch break just as interesting as a good book.  Michelle Valentine totally rocked my Kindle.  I was thinking it’s pretty awesome that she’s a nurse and still works and she’s just writing on the side.  Anywho about the book…

Lane broke up with her high school love Noel after high school.  She was ambitious and wanted to pursue her college degree.  He wanted to make a living singing.  Not everyone gets to be a rock god just because they want to.  Fortunately, that’s just what Noel does.  He’s got a super hot band, Black Falcon, and he’s living the life of a full blown rock star.  Lane’s an intern at a marketing company and just her luck she gets picked to talk to Noel about his plans for his charity.  Considering he dedicates a song to the girl that broke his heart at his concerts – it’s not looking good.

One bad conversation between the two and a several week job that entails Lane going on tour with the band… things get pretty hot.  It gets even better when Lane’s friend Aubrey gets interested in Riff another member of the band.

Rock the Band is a novella so it’s book 1.5.

I’d definitely recommend these books and I can’t wait for the 2nd book, Rock My Bed, to come out approximately April 22, 2013.

From Amazon.com

For the last four years, good girl Lane has regretted breaking up with Noel Falcon. She thought she was sensible when she told him his dreams of being a rock star would get him nowhere, but now that he’s a rock god and her career is stagnant, she realizes just how wrong she was. When Noel hires the marketing company where Lane is an intern, she’s forced to see him again. If she wants to land her dream job as executive within the company, she has to win him over and secure his account. Too bad Noel is still pissed at her for breaking his heart.

When Lane’s company flies her to a Black Falcon concert to gain Noel’s attention, emotions run high the moment she sees him and realizes she’s far from over him. But Noel’s countless trysts with groupies and his cocky attitude make Lane believe he isn’t the same guy she once loved—now he seems to only want her body. Then after Lane discloses she needs him to procure a job, Noel proves he’s a changed man by forcing her to go on the road with him in order to get it.

After Lane reluctantly takes Noel up on his offer, she becomes willing to do whatever it takes to keep him satisfied, even if it means succumbing to his seductive ways. Lane soon finds deception is a dangerous game and she’s not the only one playing.

From Amazon.com

After Noel Falcon professed his love to the one girl who truly holds his heart in the palm of her hand, he decides to try his damndest to keep Lane Vance in his life forever this time. There’s no way he’ll let her slip through his fingers again without a fight.

The instant they are together Noel begins to plot a way to ask his headstrong lady-love to be his wife, but every attempt to pop the question is foiled by a string of mishaps that prevents him from the perfect moment to get the job done before he goes back on tour with Black Falcon.

Distance is a bigger challenge than Noel expects, and the one-eyed beast of jealous raises its ugly head when Lane takes on a job working on an ad campaign for Embrace the Darkness. With Striker—a man that’s made it clear in the past he’s very interested in more then her business sense—lurking around her constantly, Noel wants to claim Lane now, more than ever.

From Goodreads.com

Everything always seems to fall into place for twenty-four year-old Aubrey Jenson, except for when it comes to her luck with men. Bad boys always draw her in and crush her heart, and Black Falcon’s lead guitarist, Riff, is no exception. After sharing a few wild nights together, she leaves him behind, knowing a guy like Riff isn’t the relationship type, merely just a play thing.

When she returns to New York, she tries to get the passion she felt in Riff’s arms out of her head by dating Isaac, a successful representative at Center Stage Marketing. Just when she thinks she’s forgotten Riff, she’s forced to see him again when her best friend, Lanie, ropes her into being a bridesmaid for her upcoming wedding to Black Falcon front man, Noel.

Sparks fly instantly between Aubrey and Riff when they’re forced to reunite, and suddenly she finds herself caught between the man that’s good for her and the one who completely rocks her in every way.

More Than Meets The Ink by Elle Aycart

The main girl Tate assumes that James is a “bad-boy” because he’s got tattoos and she automatically writes him off as off-limits.  But one thing leads to another and before you know it they’re an item.  A crazy stalker that she tries to forget about thrown into the mix along with a restaurant that could be better and you’ve got More Than Meets the Ink.  Many references later to his “bad-boy” persona and Tate finally realizes he’s more her type than she originally thought.

This book was a quick read and it was okay.  There were some parts that I found myself rolling my eyes at but overall it was a decent story.  I know I normally have a lot more to say but this book was just okay for me.

From Amazon.com

Wickedly sexy James Bowen is a bad boy of the highest order — tattoos and attitude included — which unfortunately ranks way up on Tate’s not-a-chance-in-hell list, right there along with skydiving naked over Teheran and juggling Ebola vials just for kicks. But what the heck, she’s on holiday, the guy is absolutely irresistible, and she needs to unplug from her life. With her dad and brother gone, Tate is left to deal with the family restaurant, which is fast going down the drain. Her employees are acting out, her boyfriend has bailed out, and her very own private stalker is emailing her to death with lovely threats of doom, fire, and dismemberment. So yeah, maybe a little holiday fling is in order. Strictly sex though, and no follow-up whatsoever once.

She hadn’t counted on her take-charge holiday fling having an opinion of his own and stubbornly sticking around, before and after the sex, making himself at home in her life. There is definitely more to James than meets her prejudiced eye, and even if she’s not ready to look deeper, James isn’t prepared to permit her not to.

The Blackstone Affair Books 1 & 2 by Raine Miller

Whew… that was a wild ride.  Raine Miller sure knows how to write a smokin’ love scene.  Wow.  So. Freakin. Hot.  I obviously enjoyed this book and I’m pretty sure my husband did too, lol.  Really, what’s not to like?

Brynne is a girl with a secretive troubled past who moves to London to start a new life.  She’s a grad student and sometimes nude model.  Willful and headstrong she just might give Ethan a good run for his money.

Ethan Blackstone is one hot dude.  Head of his own security company with a dominant personality.  He’s got some demons of his own.  When the two of them get together sparks fly but Ethan has one secret that just might end them.

I did mention this book is hot, right?  Yeah baby.

I liked it so much that when I finished it I ran out and got All In the 2nd book in the series.

From Amazon.com

Naked desire. Secret satisfaction. An affair you’ll never forget.

Brynne Bennett has left scandal in her past and is living the good life. An American grad student at the University of London and part-time photographic model, she’s getting back on track with lots of hard work and focus on a career in art conservation. When London businessman Ethan Blackstone buys her nude portrait, he wants to possess more than just her image. He wants Brynne in his bed, serving him in every way possible. He has no trouble voicing his desires, and he isn’t taking no for an answer.

At first his dominant nature captivates her, but it isn’t clear if the force of his powerful desire will ultimately awaken or dispel the demons Brynne is carrying inside. There are secrets on both sides of this relationship—huge ones. Can Ethan erase the scars of Brynne’s past so that she can reveal her true self to him? Or will the shadows cast by Ethan’s own mysterious former life destroy their chance at happiness?

Naked is the sizzling, unforgettable story of what happens when a strong woman meets the one man powerful enough to strip away all her defenses, leaving her standing naked and perfect before him.

If you didn’t read the first book – don’t go further unless you want to see what book 2 is about. I don’t recommend this. Read and love one book at a time.  Trust me.

The 2nd installment of the Blackstone Affair series is just as great as the first.  Can Ethan pick up the scattered pieces of Brynne’s heart and put them back together  in time to protect Brynne from a serious threat?  More detail about each of their pasts are revealed in this book.

Ahh, the agony of a book review that doesn’t give anything about the book away.  I know, I know, I suck.  It’s okay but since I’ve left you hanging and begging for more – go buy the 2nd book.  Totally worth it.

So guess what!?  There’s a 3rd book coming out called Eyes Wide Open.  Shh…there’s a sneak peak at the end of book 2.  Yipee.  I cannot wait for this to be released.  I love this story and can’t wait to see what else Raine Miller comes up with.

From Amazon.com

Hearts In Darkness by Laura Kaye

Only 110 pages this novella was a very quick read.  Two strangers trapped in an elevator.  What do they do to pass the time…hmmm.  My question is I don’t think either of them had to pee for hours.  How is this possible?  It was a decent read about two strangers meeting in an inconvenient way but spending hours talking to each other and realizing they just might have more in common than they would think.  Amazing what happens when vanity is taken off the table.  Because it is such a short book I would watch for it to go on sale for $0.99.

From Amazon.com

Makenna James thinks her day can’t get any worse, until she finds herself stuck in a pitch-black elevator with a complete stranger. Distracted by a phone call and juggling too much stuff, the pin-striped accountant caught only a glimpse of a dragon tattoo on his hand before the lights went out.

Caden Grayson is amused when a redhead literally falls at his feet. His amusement turns to panic when the power fails. Despite his piercings, tats, and vicious scar, he’s terrified of the dark and confined spaces. Now, he’s trapped in his own worst nightmare.

To fight fear, they must both reach out and open up. With no preconceived notions based on looks to hold them back, they discover just how much they have in common. In the warming darkness, attraction grows and sparks fly, but will they feel the same when the lights come back on?

Wallbanger by Alice Clayton

This book was freaking funny.  Laugh out loud funny.  My husband rolling his eyes at me because I snorted once or twice funny.  I hated it.  Just kidding – I loved this book.  It was just a great read.  Of course, I devoured it in an evening because that’s what I do.

I’m so sorry Caroline has lost her O.  Thankfully Simon knows where to find it.  There’s not a lot for me to say – the synopsis provided by Amazon.com does a great job of telling you that you really need to read this book, like yesterday.  So just do yourself a favor and read the book and find out why I snort laughed – it has something to do with a cat.  I definitely recommend it.

A bestselling hot, hilarious eBook by USA TODAY indie author Alice Clayton, the freshest voice to hit publishing in years. “An instant classic…highly recommended!” (New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Jennifer Probst).

Caroline Reynolds has a fantastic new apartment in San Francisco, a Kitchen Aid mixer to die for, and no O (and we’re not talking Oprah here, folks). She has a flourishing design career, an office overlooking the bay, a killer zucchini bread recipe, and no O. She has Clive (the best cat ever), great friends, a great rack, and no O. Adding insult to O-less, she also has an oversexed neighbor with the loudest late-night wallbanging she’s ever heard. Every moan, spank, and—was that a meow?—punctuates the fact that not only is she losing sleep, she still has—yep, you guessed it—no O. Enter Simon Parker. When the wallbanging threatens to literally bounce her out of bed, Caroline, clad in sexual frustration and a pink baby-doll nightie, confronts her heard-but-never-seen neighbor. Their late-night hallway encounter has…well…mixed results. Because with walls this thin, the tension’s gonna be thick. A delicious mix of silly and steamy, this is an irresistible tale of exasperation at first sight.

Rule by Jay Crownover

Shaw’s got a set underneath her preppy exterior. She has to to put up with the crap Rule throws her way.  Not many chicks would put up with half of what Rule throws her way, but yet she does it.  He’s a self-destructive pain in the ass that just might be worth the trouble she puts up with.   After years of wanting him she finally goes for what she wants.  But will his brother’s secret that she’s held onto for years be their undoing??

What’s not to like about this book.  Ready to read it yet?  Yeah, go ahead it was a good book.  There is random sex, drinking, and a bit of violence but nothing that’s too extreme.

It was a quick & easy read, I started & finished on 2/19/13.  The $1.99 purchase price was great also.

From Amazon.com

I loved Rule Archer since the first moment I ever laid eyes on him. He was everything I shouldn’t want and the only person I went out of my way to not try and please. He only saw me as a brat, as an entitled, stuck up princess but worse than that all he saw when he looked at me was his deceased twin brother’s girl. It broke my heart because as much as I had loved Remy Archer there was never anything romantic between us and no matter how hard I tried to convince myself that loving Rule was a terrible idea, my poor heart just wouldn’t listen. We tolerated each other, barely. We forged an uneasy alliance until one night I had too much to drink and changed the way we were forever. Suddenly life long secrets were no longer hidden and the one thing I always wanted for myself seemed obtainable as long as I was willing to go through hell to hold onto it.

Shaw Landon was a class act and I had no idea what to do with her. She was tied to my family, tied to the person that was my other half so I tolerated her and her haughty attitude because I didn’t have any other choice. What I didn’t know was that a short skirt and too many cocktails on her birthday was going to change my outlook on her for the rest of my life. Some people thought I hid behind all my tattoos and piercings, that I tried to distance myself from my dead twin, Shaw saw through it all and wasn’t scared of what was underneath.

We weren’t supposed to be together, weren’t supposed to be anything except uncomfortable acquaintances but that all changed in the blink of an eye. Now I had to figure out just how a girl like her and a guy like me were supposed to be in love without destroying each other. Add in her custom made ex and two disapproving sets of parents and the whole situation sounded to me like it was more trouble then it was worth.

Recommended for mature readers due to sexual content, language and drinking
